The Skull

The skull tattoo can mean many different things. Depending on who has it. It means what the wearer wants it to mean.

Most of us are familiar with the Jolly Roger, skull and crossbones of the pirate flag. Of course that meant trouble for what ever ship they boarded.

The skull and crossbones also was a symbol of poison. Either way, the skull and crossbones was something to be wary of.

Nazis used the skull and crossbones also. To this day some neo-nazis use the symbol. There are other groups that use the same symbol. Some bikers also sport this tattoo. Again this probably suggests a dangerous situation, so you might want to avoid these people. Or at least tread lightly around them.

Gamblers sometimes use the same skull symbol as a lucky charm. Some gambler tattoos also have cats and dice along with the skull. You would have to ask them if they think it brings them good luck.

While many times the skull depicts death winning in the end, over life. Which of course it always does. It doesn’t always have to be thought of as a bad thing. Some people believe that death isn’t the end, but rather a rebirth into the next stage of existence.

This again would be interpreted by the wearer. There are probably more positive beliefs associated with the skull tattoo than negative. So the skull tattoo would be what it means to you.

There are seriously scary looking skulls, as well as more comic skulls. If you choose a skull for your tattoo, only you can decide what it will look like, and what it means to you.
