The Hawk
A little background on the Hawk, different cultures, even some from ancient Egypt revered the hawk. The Hawk was associated with the sun. The Hawk was representative of Horus, Ra and Osiris. These Egyptian gods were often shown with a Hawk head.
The Golden Hawk was associated with the phoenix. The Hawk sometimes depicted the human soul and would be shown above a mummy.
The position of the Hawk was important. If it was shown lying down, it indicated moving from one life to another. If the wings were open it meant the body was again in possession of his soul.
In Native American cultures, the Hawk is the messenger from the spirit world. If you see a Hawk you need to look around your surroundings for the message.
The Hawk is also protective of young in its nest, teaching us about family. The Hawk also tells us about visions and visionary power. The Hawk teaches us to be observant, to pay attention to details that we may have overlooked.
Including things such as a talent. We don’t use, or a blessing we have not been thankful for, or maybe a message from the spirit world that we have not acknowledged. The Hawks superior eyesight should teach us to open our eyes to what is there to guide us.
Some of the things the Hawk represents are: being observant, seeing clearly, remembering past lives, courage, wisdom, seeing the larger picture, creativity, truth, overcoming problems, cleansing, new life, and power.
If you choose a Hawk for your tattoo, consider the things it represents, to be sure you are worthy of wearing this tattoo.
